Requested Information/Clarification:
The first question is what the City would like to do where the expansion joints go through the median. This applies to
both the strip seal joint (Br sheet 59) and the modular join ts (Br sheet 46). At the barrier r expansion plates. Should there be
something similar at the median, or just a gap left for the expansion joint?
Response:
The plans call for a gap and preformed joint filler in the median at the modular expansion joints and strip seals. See
notation on Br. Sheet 43 and Br. Sheet 59 respectively. The modular joint and strip seal will be continuous in the slab,
below the median. The purpose of the preformed joint filler in the median is to mainly keep debris out of the joint.
