FARMINGTON HIGH SCHOOL
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Summer is at its height right now, but signs of the approaching fall are all around—and
here is one more! In this edition of the annual back-to-school newsletter, you will find
valuable information to prepare for the opening of school on August 31
and to be ready
for the 2015-2016 school year. I encourage you to read through the entire newsletter—it is
an important component of our home-school communication efforts.
In the coming school year, we at Farmington High School renew our commitment to
engage students as “leaders of their own learning”: students who demonstrate mastery of
content and skill-based standards; who have opportunities to explore pathways of learning
based on interest and individual choice; who are appropriately and effectively challenged
and supported; and who benefit from consistent instructional innovation and excellence. It
is our goal that all of our students graduate from Farmington High School as lifelong
leaders of their own learning, both college and career ready, and, in the words of the
Farmington Public Schools' Vision of the Graduate, ready "to meet the challenges of local,
national and global citizenship in a rapidly changing world."
We also commit to ensuring a safe, welcoming, and positive school environment for all. At
Farmington High School, we are "One School--One Community--One Us!" It is our
highest priority to support a climate of respect, responsibility, and resiliency in all school
activities, events, and programs throughout the school year.
Above all, we promise to communicate regularly with you about your children and their
progress and performance at Farmington High School. I encourage you to stay actively
involved in your children’s education throughout the year and to take advantage of the
various opportunities to learn about and support the many wonderful things that happen
here every day!
I look forward to a great year of working with you and your children at Farmington High
