DIVORCE DECREE
Purpose: This is the form the court uses to formally issue its judgment or
decree of divorce.
How: After judgment, the clerk of court prepares the form for signature.
The judge signs the original and the clerk of court distributes copies.
Copies: The original decree is stored in the court case file.
A copy is given to the plaintiff and defendant.
A copy is given to the appropriate tribal agency.
A copy is given to the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Note: Form IA will probably be appropriate in most cases. If there are no
children, and no disputes as to debts or ownership of property, form
IIA may be sufficient.
