Welcome To The Dayton Kindergarten Newsletter
The students have been actively involved in the following:
*Science- noticing seasonal changes
*Math -sorting objects by size, shape, and color
-counting from 0 to 20 with one to one correspondence
-understanding that the digits are 0 to 9
Note that math homework will begin on Nov. 11
th
. The worksheet will
focus on number sense. Math homework will be given out on Monday
and will be due back by Thursday.
*Literacy:
Writing- working in a writing notebook and writing list books
Reading- reading pictures and words independently and with
a partner
Ask your child about the following books:
*Pumpkin, Pumpkin by Jeanne Titherington
*Wallace’s List by Barbara Bottner
*Chicka Chicka 1, 2, 3 by Bill Martin J.
*Goldilock and the Three Bears by James Marshall
*Social Studies-creating a book about ourselves and our family
throughout the school year
*Spanish-The children have watched the first video of the Spanish lesson.
There are 12 lessons/episodes that the children will watch this year. The story
of Goldilocks And The Three
Bears is the focus throughout the episodes. These are the vocabulary
words that are emphasized in the first episode:
hola, hasta luego, grande, pequeno, uno, dos, tres.
